WILLIAM S. SLAGLE
A Bingen resident, William S. Slagle, 65, died March
28 at his home.
He is survived by his wife "Tiny" Slagle, Bingen; six
children: Billy Jo Deo, Underwood; Georgia Blue, Cushman, Ark.; Richard Slagle,
Prosser, Wash.; Janice Dale, Cushman, Ark.; James Dale Slagle, Batesville,
Ark.; and Sheila Lynn Slagle, New Hopes Farms, Goldendale; a brother, Joseph
Slagle, Yakima; 3 sisters: Thelma Wagner, Tulsa, Okla.; Ruth Hanning, Tulsa,
Okla.; and Mary Jobe, Sperry, Okla.; 14 grandchildren and four
great-grandchildren.
Mr. Slagle was born April 7, 1920 in Bruno, Ark., to
George and Bertha Smyth Slagle, and was raised in Arkansas. He married Clementine
"Tiny" Elam March 23, 1940 in Arkansas, and served in the US Army Signal
Corps in World War II from 1943-1945. He moved to Yakima in 1947, then to
the Bingen-White Salmon area in 1956, where he worked for SDS Lumber Co.
until his retirement in 1982. He was an avid fisherman.
Services were March 29 at 10 a.m. at Gardner Funeral
Home, Bishop Frank Butler officiating. Committal was in the White Salmon
Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to New Hopes Farms, Goldendale,
or the American Cancer Society.
Gardner Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
