FORMER RESIDENTS DIES IN CALIFORNIA

As soon as an autopsy can be performed, the body of William Waterman Barnes, 78, father of Mrs. E.T. (Red) Blue will be shipped from Long Beach, Calif., to White Salmon for burial. Mr. Barnes died Sunday evening, January 11 at Seaside hospital in Long Beach.
The deceased was hospitalized on Saturday, the 10th. Preliminary examination indicated death was caused by a ruptured lung. With the news of her father's death, Mrs. Blue learned that her step-mother, Mrs. Lilly Barnes died in December and was cremated. It was Mrs. Blue's wish that her father be shipped here for burial.
William Barnes was born March 12, 1875 in Turkey City, Penna. He came west when he was 16 years old. For several years he and his second wife lived in Bingen. They left here for California three or four years ago.
Mr. Barnes is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Blue of White Salmon and Mrs. H.G. (Josephine) Crater of Colusa, Calif.; a son, L.S. Waterman formerly of Bingen and now residing at Yachats, Oregon; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
When Mr. Barnes was married the second time he changed his name from Waterman to Barnes, his mother's maiden name.
