PETER MOHR D.M.C. 1880
Peter Mohr was born in Germany November 2, 1845. His
wife Matilda Mohr was also a native of Germany. He gave his three years of
service to the "Fatherland" and then came to the United States taking papers
of citizenship in his adopted country.
Mr. and Mrs. Mohr were married in California in 1878
and two years later moved to Hood River and located on their Pine Grove farm
where they have lived continuously ever since. They have one of the finest
and most productive farms in the valley, and have shipped apples in large
quantities to Europe and even to Vladivostok, East Siberia. Mr. Mohr was
the first to take a sweepstakes prize at the District fair at The Dalles
having 34 varieties of apples. In 1911 he refused $2500 per acre for his
orchard of six year old trees, being satisfied to keep the "goose that laid
the golden egg".
Their family consists of three sons and, two daughters.
John H. was born in California May 24, 1879. Peter J., Josephine, Alphonso
and Marie all born, raised and educated in Hood River and, grown to be
substantial citizens of our commonwealth.
