TROUT LAKE AND VICINITY - Trout Lake is steadily coming to the front. Improvements are going on all around, and several new roads will be opened up this spring. Seventeen new buildings, including the new bridges, are going up - Lumber is being hauled by the contractors, Byrkett & Johnson, for the new bridge across Trout creek - The telephone reached the Guler's, the end of the line, on Thursday. Soon we will be saying "Hello" to our neighbors at White Salmon and other parts of the world - Mr. Peets will start on his new store building as soon as the lumber can be got - Kedenbergh & Sellinger started up their mill the first of the week - The cheese factory is expected to commence operations about the first of May - Several tons of barb wire have been hauled up, and there will be a lot of fencing done this spring - Mrs. T. Wyers came up on the stage, Saturday, to visit her daughter, Mrs. Claterbos, who has been confined to her bed for several weeks - W.F. Stadelman came up from Portland this week, where he took his daughter for medical treatment. He left his daughter in Portland under the doctor's care - A petition is being circulated to establish a post office near the lake to accommodate campers and near by settlers -- Chris Guler has a force of men overhauling the hotel at the lake. He is putting his resort in first-class shape in order to handle the numerous summer boarders he always has - There was an auction sale at the Charles Byrkett place Saturday last. D.T. Morrow, who is leaving for Vancouver, was disposing of his surplus implements.
