FOURTEEN SENIORS GIVEN DIPLOMAS
AT TROUT LAKE
Memorial Services At Cemetery Attended By Many People
TROUT LAKE, June 3, (Special) The commencement exercises of the Trout Lake
school was held on May 26th in the high school gymnasium. Fourteen seniors and
six eighth graders received their diplomas. This was one of the largest classes
of seniors for many years. Rev. George P. George, of White Salmon, delivered
the commencement address. Valedictorian was Miss Ardith Jones and salutatorian
was Mr. Calvin Langfield.
Presentation of the class of 1948 was by Superintendent Ralph L.
Woodhouse, with presentation of diplomas by Charles R. Brown, chairman of the
school board. Presentation of the eighth grade was by Mrs. Madeline Pearson,
with presentation of diplomas by Charles R. Brown. Mr. K.C. Langfield presented
a plaque from the David Woodruff Post of the American Legion to the school, on
which will be kept a permanent record of the outstanding boy or girl of each
graduating class. Winners of the award this year, with the best scholastic
record, were Ardith Jones and Bob Beeks. They each received a bronze plaque and
a bronze pin.
The Antlers Club of White Salmon, presented ten dollars each to
Julia Johnson and Eugene Murphy as the outstanding boy and girl of the eighth
grade. We are very grateful for the prizes, as they give the students something
to work for.
Music was by the high school chorus with Donna Marsh as pianist.

TROUT LAKE, (Special). Mar. 14 -- There was a large turnout for the school election last Saturday. Dan Burdett and Ernest Childs were the two new directors chosen.

Farewell Party Held For Bill Couch
TROUT LAKE, April 21. (Special) One of the loveliest dances ever to be held in Trout Lake was that of the Junior Prom last Saturday. Ardith Jones, outstanding senior, was crowned the queen by the school principal, Mr. R. L. Woodhouse. Then followed the grand march led by princesses Carol Carr and Dolores Coate. Music was furnished by the Mel Masters orchestra.
