EIGHT SENIORS GRADUATE AT TROUT LAKE HIGH SERVICES
TROUT LAKE, June 1 (Special) -- Commencement Exercises were held last Wednesday evening in Trout Lake for eight seniors and nine eighth graders. The guest speaker was Edward Ching-L’ien Fei from the University of Washington. Dolores Coate was valedictorian, Carol Carr, Salutatorian and Donna Marsh, Historian for the class of 49. Supt. F. E. Shaw presented the following awards: Antlers Club of White Salmon award to the three outstanding eighth grade pupils, first prize to Harvey Dodge; second prize to Orville Elmer and third prize to Bonnie Coate. Certificates for being neither tardy nor absent were presented to Vernon Greffing, W.J. Hawley Rosalind Pearson. First year typing awards were presented to Dolores Coate, Tommy Raymond, Forrest Couch and Bernice Peterson. Certificates for scholastic leadership were presented to Alice Cole and Wesley Peterson. Carol Carr received a scholarship to the State College of Washington. Ralph Didriksen presented the American Legion award to the two outstanding graduates, Dolores Coate and Dean Carr. He also presented Mr. Shaw with an album of records of the famous men of the world to be used in the school. Principal Madeline Pearson presented her class of eighth graders and Mr. F. E. Childs gave out diplomas to the following: Bonnie Coate, Bonita Conklin, Harvey Dodge, Orville Elmer, Georgia Hawley, Sidney McCuistion, Carolyn Pearson, Frank Stoller and Hank Veldhuisen. Class of 49 graduates who received their diplomas were: Luella Bauer, Alice Cole, Carol Carr, Dean Carr, Dolores Coate, Donna Marsh, Wesley Peterson and Paul Wood.
