146 AT T.L. SCHOOL OPENING DAY
Trout Lake school opened Tuesday with a total enrollment of 146 pupils. Mrs.
Veronica Madison, combination 1ST and 2nd grade teacher had 12
first-graders and 13 second-graders registered. Mrs. Ella Diebel had a total of
26 enrolled with 12 in the 3d grade and 14 in the 4th grade. Mrs. Ollie E. Camp
registered 13 in the 5th grade and 12 in the 6th grade. James I. Coder reported
20 in the 7th grade and 7 in the 8th grade. Mr. Coder is a graduate of CWCE and
taught at Wishkah Valley last year.
Forty-three students registered in the high school with
13 in the 9th grade, 14 in the 10th grade, 8 in the 11th grade and 8 in the 12th
grade.
Mrs. Genevieve H. Haller, school librarian, has
returned after a busy summer of travel. New to the Trout Lake staff this year
will be Mrs. Dorothy Aumann, graduate of the University of Washington; Mrs.
Virginia Zimmerman, graduate also of the U of W, with a B.S. degree in
mathematics; and Joe M. Cowling, graduate of Alabama Polytechnic Institute with
a B.S. degree in physical education. Each of the women teachers Tuesday morning
found on her desk a bouquet of flowers and a note of welcome from the school
board.
Palmer Wang, school custodian, had the building in fine
condition for the starting day. Not only were the floors glistening, but new
steel lockers had been installed for all students, grades 1 through 12.
