TROUT LAKE GRADUATION FRIDAY NITE

Trout Lake commencement exercises for both high school Seniors and 8th grade graduates will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, May 20, in the Trout Lake school gym.
            The commencement speaker will be Richard E. Lawton, supervisor of industrial and community relations for Crown Zellerbach, Camas.  His topic will be “Tomorrow and You”.
            Graduating Seniors are Janice Burdett, valedictorian, Nancy Dahl, salutatorian, Eugene Burril, Dick Corbin, Lester Durdle, Don Fordyce, Joyce Guler Stoller, Patty Halse, Fred Kloepper, Robin Knutson, Jim Winters, Peter Zimmerman and Erwin Zimmerman.
            Those finishing eighth grade are Nancy Brown, Roxanne Burdett, Lee Caryl, Lawrence Hylton, Sylvia Johnson, Arlene Kloepper, Larene Kloepper, Sheila Madison, Arthur Neal, Tom Olson, Karen Dooley, Bill Thomas, Larry Joe Wilson and Richard Zimmerman.

SECOND IN CLASS

Miss Nancy Ann Dahl, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold A. Dahl of Portland and Trout Lake, is the Salutatorian of the class of 1960 of Trout Lake High School.  She entered the Trout Lake schools as a freshman from LaGrande, Oregon.
            During her period in high school, she has been prominent in many activities.  She has been class treasurer for three years, a member of the student council, song leader for Girls’ League, and she has participated in five plays.  During her senior year she has been editor of the yearbook, “The Mountaineer.” She plans to major in Fine Arts when she matriculates in college in the autumn.

Trout Lake PTA awarded small cash scholarships to the three highest pupils in the eighth grade.  First went to Sylvia Johnson; second to Shelia Madison and Larry Hylton third.
            Janice Burdett received a scholarship to Linfield College at the Commencement program on Friday evening.
            Other awards were: Citizenship, Robin Knutson; Danforth Foundation, Erwin Zimmerman and Patricia Halse; Legion Americanism award, Patricia Halse and Fred Kloepper; Betty Crocker Homemaker award, Nancy Dahl and annual editor, Nancy Dahl.

TOP SENIORS AT TROUT LAKE HIGH

JANICE BURDETT

Miss Janice Burdett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Burdett of Trout Lake, is valedictorian of the class of 1960 of Trout Lake High School.
            She has been outstanding in many school activities.  For the past two years she has been treasurer of the student body and a member of the student council.  She has also been class president and secretary and treasurer of the Girls’ League, associate editor of the school annual, “The Mountaineer”, and she has participated in five plays.  Last year she was selected by the American Legion Auxiliary to attend Girls State in Ellensburg.
            In addition to her school activities, and she is an officer in the local U.P.Y., district Presbytery, and in Rainbow.
            In September, she plans to enter Linnfield College in McMinnville, Oregon.

NANCY ANN DAHL

Miss Nancy Ann Dahl, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold A. Dahl of Portland and Trout Lake, is the salutatorian of the class of 1960 of Trout Lake High School.  She entered the Trout Lake schools as a freshman from LaGrande, Oregon.
            Nancy has been prominent in many activities.  She has been class treasurer for three years, member of the student council, Girls’ League song leader and has participated in five plays.  During her senior year she has been editor of the yearbook, “The Mountaineer”.
            Besides her school activities she has been selected to offices in the Presbyterian Youth Fellowship and has conducted classes in ballet for small girls in Trout Lake.  She is now Worthy Adviser of Columbia Assembly, No. 49, Order of Rainbow for Girls.
            She plans to major in Fine Arts when she enters college next fall.
