ANN CARYL TO BE TL VALEDICTORIAN

Ann Caryl, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Caryl of Trout Lake, is the Valedictorian of the class of 1961 of Trout Lake High School.
            Last year, she was selected as the delegate to Girls’ State, and now she is president of the Girls’ League.  Last December, she won the Betty Crocker Homemaker’s Award.
            As a freshman, she was treasurer of her class.  When she was a Sophomore, she was class secretary, sergeant-at-arms for the Girls’ League, a player on the girls’ basketball team, and a member of the Student Council.  As a junior, she was class sergeant-at-arms.
            She has played in the band each year, and this year, she has been in the chorus as well.
            She has given excellent performances in the five plays in which she has had prominent parts.
            On June 12th, she plans to enter the Petterson Business School in Seattle.

JOYCE JENNINGS IS SALUTATORIAN AT TROUT LAKE

Joyce Jennings, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rupert L. Jennings of Trout Lake, is the salutatorian of the Class of 1961 of Trout Lake High School.
            She is now the secretary of the senior class, and during her years in high school she has taken part in a number of activities.
            She was class secretary her freshman year in class vice-president her Junior year.
            During her sophomore year she played guard on the girls basketball team, and during her Junior year, she was on the girls volleyball team.  In her Junior and Senior years, she was a member of the High School Chorus.
            In addition to her other activities she displayed talent as a character actress in five plays.
            In the autumn, she plans to enter Central Washington College of Education to prepare to be an elementary teacher.

TROUT LAKE LISTS GRADUATION DATES

Trout Lake High School’s annual Baccalaureate service will be at the Mt. Adams Baptist Church in Trout Lake on Sunday, May 21 at 2:30 p.m..  Rev. Clarence Twigg of the T.L. Presbyterian Church will give the Baccalaureate message.
            The annual commencement service for eighth grade and senior high will be in T.L. High School Gym on Wednesday, May 24 at 8 p.m..  Dwight C. Baird, President of Clark College in Vancouver, will deliver the commencement address.  The public is cordially invited to these services.

TROUT LAKE’S CLASS OF 1961

Seven Seniors were awarded diplomas at Commencement exercises held last night Wednesday, May 24, at Trout Lake High School.

T.L. CLASS OF ’44 HAS RE-UNION

The Class of 1944 of Trout Lake high school sponsored a class reunion on Saturday evening July 29 to which they invited the former students of all classes of the high school and their husbands and wives.
            Mrs. Shurb Smith (Shirley Quackenbush) of Nome, Alaska and Mrs. Robert Libbey of Bend, Oregon planned the reunion but at the last moment Mrs. Smith was unable to attend because of a late boat and two sick children.
            About 40 members gathered at the Grange hall Saturday evening.  Leon Schmid, George Woodruff and Mrs. Cecil Jaksha showed colored slides.  All told of themselves and families and exchanged snapshots for viewing.  Mr. Woodhouse, Supt. during 1944 was unable to attend because of a blood clot in his leg.
            Prizes were given the A. R. Libbeys (Vesta Schmid) for coming the farthest; to the Robert McNeels (Margaret Cole) for the largest family (6 children); and to Mrs. Patty Schmid Burr and Mrs. Barbara Schmid Ekstrom for coming in costume.
            Out of town members attending were David Thomas, Toledo, Wn.; Mrs. William Burr (Patty Schmid), and Mrs. John Ekstrom, both Portland; Mr. and Mrs. Bud Winter (Dolores Coate), Salem; Doris Cole and husband, Yamhill; Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Libbey, Bend; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wang, and Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Jaksha (RoseAnn Quackenbush) both W.S.
            Class members and their families had a potluck picnic at Hollenbeck park on Sunday.  Mr. and Mrs. Homer Spencer and family of Beaverton were up for the Sunday festivities.
