TROUT LAKE H.S. LISTS TOP GRADS

Terry Schmid
Valedictorian

Trout Lake high school Valedictorian for 1968 is Terry Schmid.  Terry is the son of Leonard and Betty Schmid of Trout Lake.  The Schmids are dairy farmers and descendents of one of the pioneer families of the Trout Lake Valley.
            Terry's interests are mechanics, farming and machine work.  School activities are Lettermens Club, Boys League, Choir, Class plays.  He has a grade point average of 2.98 through seven semesters. Terry plans on attending WSU at Pullman and majoring in agricultural engineering, with the goal of obtaining an engineering degree.

Michael Courtney
Salutatorian

Trout Lake Salutatorian is Michael Courtney.  Michael is known as Mike, and is the son of Julius and Jane Courtney, formerly of Trout Lake.  Mr. Courtney is employed by the U.S. Forest Service and has been recently transferred to Amboy, Wa.
            Mike's hobbies are hunting and playing basketball.  School Activities are Lettermen’s Club, Boys League, Choir, all class plays for the four years, with the lead in the Senior play this year.  At various times he has held the offices of Sgt.-at-Arms, Class President, Vice President, Boys League v.p., Lettermen’s v.p. and member of the Student Council.  He has a grade point average of 2.87 through seven semesters.  He plans to attend Everett Community College and would like to major in engineering, with a view to attending UofW at Seattle.  Mike leans toward a career in forestry.

TROUT LAKE HI GRADUATES “9”

Trout Lake High School graduated a class of nine students Wednesday evening, May 29 in the high school auditorium.
            Valedictorian was Terry Lee Schmid, Salutatorian, Michael J. Courtney, and Class President, Robert McNeel.  Harold Regele was adviser.  Other members of the class were Donita Belle Allaway; Linda Irene Neal, Patricia Ann Kelley, Kelvin Kaye Schmid, Kenneth Lyle Ryan and Clifton Hugh Duke.
            The commencement program follows:
            The Processional “Pomp and Circumstance” and recessional “March of the Priest” were played by Elaine Leslie and David Collier.
            The invocation and benediction were given by Clifton Hugh Duke.
            President’s Welcome, Robert McNeel; Salutatorian address “The Making of Tomorrow” Michael J. Courtney; Valedictorian Address “Rights and Responsibilities” Terry Lee Schmid.
            The high school chorus under the direction of Mrs. Roger Stamy sang two numbers “Let There Be Music” and “Born Free”.
            The commencement speaker, Elmer Stanley was introduced by Dwight R. Kelly, then Mr. Kelly presented the awards.
            The Eighth graders, under the direction of Mrs. Roger Stamy sang “Do-Re-Mi”. They were then presented by Mr. Kelley to Mrs. Paul Caryl who gave them their Eighth Grade Diplomas.  Then Mr. Kelley presented the class of 1968 to Carlton Allaway who presented the high school diplomas.
