KATHY WOODRUFF ELECTED GIRLS STATE REPRESENTATIVE
Kathy Woodruff, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Woodruff of Trout
Lake was elected this years American Legion Auxiliary Girls State
Representative.
Kathy is 16, and the oldest of four children. Her school activities
are Pep Club, Band, Chorus, Girls League President (1971-72). She is also on
the Girls track team.
Last summer Kathy was chosen “Miss Trout Lake” for the Dairy Show.
Quote from her winning letter: “I would be proud to represent Trout
Lake and meet other girls that are not afraid to be patriotic Americans."
Sueann Schmid, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Schmid was elected
alternate.
Sueann is the youngest of five children, and is very active in
school affairs. He belongs to the Pep Club, Girls League, Volleyball, Chorus,
is Class Secretary-Treasurer.
She also belongs to 4-H for 7 years and is a member of the
Presbyterian Youth Group.
Sueann said she likes to travel and meet different people and keep
her community clean and teach younger people what she has learned in 4-H.
Girls State is June 13-20 in Ellensburg, Wash.

GRADUATION IS THURSDAY NIGHT TROUT LAKE HIGH
Trout Lake high school's graduation exercises will be held tonight at eight
o'clock in the high school gymnasium.
The Valedictorian from Trout Lake High School is Ella
Elmer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Elmer. Ella was Vice-President of her
class during her Freshman year, Secretary her Sophomore year, Treasurer her
Junior and Senior years, Student Council Representative her senior year. Ella
went to Girls’ State last summer, and was Huckleberry Princess for the White
Salmon Huckleberry Festival and also Trout Lake Dairy Fair Princess and
President of the 4-H Club. Ella plans to attend Clark College this next year
and major in Art.
Trout Lake has two girls who will be Co-Salutatorians;
they are Beverly Beeks and Margi Burdett.
Beverly Beeks is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Beeks. Beverly was
her class president during her Junior year, Student Council Representative her
Freshman and Senior years, on the Annual Staff, Varsity Cheerleader, Girls’
League Vice-President, and also President, Girl of the Year, Prom Queen, and has
also received the following awards: School Spirit, Girl of the Month
(Friendliness). Beverly has participated in the School Chorus, Volleyball Team,
Track all four years of High School. Beverly has been a member of Young Life
for four years and 4-H Dairy Club for 3 years. She plans to attend Yakima
Valley College in the fall and is undecided about the future. Both of Beverly's
parents graduated from Trout Lake high school, so Beverly is carrying on the
family tradition in graduating with honors.
Margi Burdett has been Student Body President, Girls’ League
Vice-President, Class Vice-President and Class Treasurer, on the Annual Staff,
Student Council Representative. Margi was a Varsity Cheerleader two years, has
played Varsity Volleyball four years, been on the Track Team four years, and
participated in Chorus four years. She plans to attend Yakima Valley College
and take Medical Secretary Courses, and after graduating from there she would
like to become a Medical Receptionist. Margi is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Dan Burdett. Margi is the youngest of four children, all of whom have graduated
from Trout Lake High School, and all have been very active in school and
community affairs.

TROUT LAKE GRADUATION THURSDAY

school out and summer coming on let's remember to turn in the news items to
Linda Niskanen.
The graduation was held on Thursday, May 27th with 15 graduates.
Pamela Allen, Beverly Beeks, Margaret Burdett, Dorothy Clark, Ella Elmer, Lee
Frodsham, Elaine Leslie, Bob Austin, Bill Beeks, David Collier, Cindy
McAllister, Lance Neal, Tracy Schmid, Vickie Schmid, and Monty Throop.
Ella Elmer received the $100 P.T.A. Scholarship, Valedictorian;
Beverly Beeks and Margi Burdett, Co-Salutatorians.
Eighth Grade Graduates were as follows: Deborah Boynton, Dianna
Collier, Janet Dixon, Cindy Huffsmith, Toni Hylton, Danita Lipka, Vickie Rogers,
Charlene Schmid, Ronnie Clark, Keith Domina, Jeffery Duke, Brian Hogate, John
McNeel, James Stewart. PTA eighth grade awards went to Toni Hylton and Keith
Domina.

ELMER, BEEKS, BURDETT LEAD TROUT LAKE GRADUATING CLASS
The

C. HOLLENBECK TROUT LAKE’S GIRL OF YEAR
Carol is a junior at Trout Lake and has been very active in school. She was
class Vice President her Freshman year, and President her Sophomore year. She
was Student Body Treasurer her Junior year. Carol has been in track and Varsity
Volleyball for 3 years and Cross Country one year.
She was Varsity Cheerleader during her Sophomore year.
She is the daughter of Ron Hollenbeck of Trout Lake and Sidney Rippy
of The Dalles, Oregon.
She was December Girl of the Month for Helpfulness.
