May 30 is the Annual Awards Dessert Banquet. The event starts at 7:30 p.m. and

GRAD PROGRAM REVIEWED

“Destiny is not to be awaited for; it is to be achieved.” These words were
chosen as the motto for the Trout Lake School graduating class of 1985.
Trout Lake held the graduating ceremony June 7. The class of 1985
consisted of Amy Helen Belieu, Melinda Annette Beeks, Robin Rae Huffman, Scott
Alan Longanecker, Ernest G. Reynolds, Nicole Lynn Schmid, and Deborah Ann
Webberley.
The Town Band under the direction of Debbie Allaway started the
ceremony with “Pomp and Circumstance.” The invocation was given by Dick Steward,
and Superintendent Jack Brase gave a special welcome message to the graduating
class, families and friends.
Ernest Reynold’s salutatorian address spoke of the past and how it
links to the future, and the valedictorian address was given by Amy Belieu on
the future and what it holds.
Linda Belt to introduced the guest speaker, author David Greenberg.
Using excerpts from his books and past experience, Greenberg gave an important
and entertaining message to his audience.
It is traditional in Trout Lake to present the eighth-grade class
certificates of completion. Jerry Wood introduced the class, and Carl Allaway
presented the certificates. Eighth-grade graduates are Meshelle Allaway,
Garrett Ashby, Krista Bast, Heidi Edwards, Robert Fischer, David Franklin, Dawn
Golphenee, Jesse Johnson, Jennie Kelleher, Erin Taylor, Robert Koenig, Bill
Lauterbach, Eric Linn, Erin Nelson, Holly Schmid, Don Thiessen, Page Warner,
Debra Wogan and Derrick Wood.
Class advisor Fred Yancey introduced the graduates of 1985, all of
whom will continue their education, and assisted Jack Brase in awarding the
diplomas. Beverlee Hooper presented the special a
awards and Jim Hollenbeck announced the Booster Club scholarships.
Amy BeLieu will attend the University of Washington. She received
the Trout Lake Education Award, Soroptimists’ Youth Citizenship Award and
Valedictorian Medal. Melinda Beeks will attend Western Business College. She
received the Elks’ Vocational Award. Robin Huffman will go into the Air Force.
Scott Longanecker is planning to attend Evergreen State College. He was awarded
the Elks’ Vocational Award and the Trout Lake Booster Club Scholarship.
Ernest Reynolds what has chosen the Art Institute of Seattle. He
received the Secondary Principal Association Academic Excellence Award for the
highest pre-college test score as well as a Salutatorian Medal. Nicole Schmid
intends to continue her education at Clark College. She was chosen Trout Lake’s
representative as Elks’ Teenager of the Month. Debra Webberley has been
accepted to Big Bend Community College. Deborah received the Trout Lake Booster
Club Scholarship.

CLASS OF ‘85 IS LOOKING TO ‘DESTINY’

“Destiny is not to be awaited for; it is to be achieved.” These words were
chosen as the motto for the Trout Lake School graduating class of 1985.
Trout Lake held the graduating ceremony on the evening
of June 7. The excitement and grandeur of the ceremony brought tears of joys
and sadness. The class of 1985 was comprised of Amy Helen Belieu, Linda Annette
Beeks, Robin Rae Huffman, Scott Alan Longenecker, Ernest G. Reynolds, Nicole
Lynn Schmid, and Deborah Ann Webberly.
