The Old and the New....

This is the oldest commercial building in Trout Lake, and was built by brothers, Henry and Herman Thode. It first opened its doors on July 4, 1904. Visitors to the inn at that time could get a free sandwich with a five cent mug of beer. In its early years, the building served as a community center for Trout Lake residents, and housed the Trout Lake post office until approx. 1910. Dances, meetings, potlucks, elections and informal gatherings were held at the inn. It was also the final stop on the Bingen-Trout Lake stage line.
