TO RAISE GARDEN TRUCK ON A LARGE SCALE
Emerald Gardens, Inc., Organized by J.W. and John Dickey and John Akins - Gardens Here and East End of County

For the purpose of raising garden truck on a large scale J.W. Dickey and son, John Dickey, of this city, and John D. Akins of McCredy, this county, have joined their interests and holdings at McCredy and on the Columbia Flat, east of Bingen. The company, which has been incorporated, is known as the Emerald Gardens, Inc. John D. Akins is president, John Dickey, vice-president, and J.W. Dickey, secretary-treasurer.
At McCredy station, near Roosevelt in the east end of this county, the company has 480 acres, 60 of which are now irrigated and grow wheat hay and alfalfa. The soil is sandy, resembling that of the Columbia Flat here, and a large acreage will be put to garden truck in the spring. The balance will be leased out. The Dickey holdings of 20 acres here, now growing garden truck, will also be farmed by the company.
