TOWNSITE OF GRAND DALLES IS SOLD TO DETWEILER FOR $45,000

John Davis & Co. have closed a deal out of the ordinary run of real estate transactions.
“To A.K. Detweiler, a banker of Toledo, O., they have sold for the Granddalles Townsite Company, which is owned by Seattle people, the town site of Granddalles, Klickitat county, for $45,000 cash.
The town takes its name from The Dalles, Or., it being across the Columbia river and on the North Bank railroad.  About 300 acres, a few buildings and the water plant are involved in the transaction.
B.J. Perkinson, a manager of the real estate department of John Davis & Co., which represented both buyer and seller, says Mr. Detweiler's purpose in making the purchase is to build up a manufacturing town.  He expects to bring out some people from Ohio, but will largely colonized his town with present residents of California who prefer the Puget Sound climate and greater opportunities for development offered by the Pacific Northwest.  -- Seattle Post Intelligencer, Oct. 30.
