According to Clara Alice Parker, the Robley's were of French-Hugenot
Stock. Matthew Robley was born in Connecticut and claimed to have fought
under General Marion in the Revolution.
There is a verbal tradition in the family that one of mother's ancestor's
was in the Hooker Colony which settled Connecticut in 1637. Cannot find
any trace of Richard Robley, presumably when he died a female relation
burned all papers in the home.
Matthew Robley he was raised by two maiden aunts and served in the
War of 1812 under Capt. White [this has not been verified]. His main occupation
was brick manufacturing. He married Hannah Smith of Elizabeth, NJ
and she died at Spruce Creek, PA 9 Dec 1835.
