This is my great grandfather, John Thaddeus Swanson, with wife, Nannie
Wilbanks, and three of their five children, Bud, Ola, and Lee.

Nannie was born to J. E. Wilbanks and Sallie Burgess in Cartoogechaye,
Macon County NC on 11 Feb 1874.  She had 12 siblings, with most of
them being born in Franklin County GA.

Nannie married John Thaddeus Swanson on 18 Oct 1893 in his hometown,
Young Harris, Towns County GA.  John Thaddeus, the son of Isaac
Barnett Swanson and Martha Melvina Bryson, was born 12 Jan 1871.

John and Nannie's children were:

Isaac W. "Ike" Swanson, born 19 Aug 1896
Alfred V. "A.V." Swanson, born 6 Feb 1897
Mamie Leon "Lee" Swanson, born 30 Sep 1899
Kola S. "Ola" Swanson, born 25 Apr 1900
Thaddeus Burgess "Bud" Swanson, born 1909

The family moved West, first to Oklahoma, then to Union County, NM.
John and Nannie ultimately found New Mexico too harsh and returned to
Oklahoma, living out their years in Stephens County OK.  John died in
Duncan, Stephens County OK on 15 Aug 1943.

After John's death Nannie continued living in Stephens County, living in
a small house on the property of her son, A.V. Swanson.  In June 1949
Nannie's house caught fire and was completely destroyed.  The next morning 
she awoke in her son's home and stepped out the door, forgetting that she 
no longer had a house in the back.  When she saw the burned out remains,
9 Jun 1949, she collapsed and died.  

Ola Swanson was my grandmother.  While her family was in New Mexico
she met a fellow named Hugh Duffy.  Hugh and Ola were married in 1919 in
Clayton, Union County NM.  They lived in the village of Grenville, not far from
Clayton, until the 1940s when they moved to Denver CO.  They had just two
children, Sarah Hughlene and Lawson Wayne Duffy.  Hughlene died 7 Aug 1963
leaving no children.  My father, Wayne, died in 1971, leaving four children.

If you know anything further about this family or connect in any way, please
let me know.  My dad died fairly early (he was 42) and this side of the family
was a mystery to me until quite recently.
