LEONARD---I have been working on my family history for several years now. I went to the State Archives in Montgomery, Al, and found that my gggrandfather died in 1832 and had no will. His estate was probated in Lowndes County Orphan's Court-according to the archives. I can find no trace of his widow or any of his children except my ggrandfather. Names are as follow: Calvin LEONARD was married to Elizabeth (?). Their children were: Mary M., Priscilla, Wade, Nancy E.F., Lafeyette. William Walton Leonard-my ggrandfather who came to Texas in about 1854. Family rumors tell that William W. and one of his brothers did not like their step-father(Name unknown to me) and caught him one day in a field, tied his head between the rails of a fence and rode off toward Texas. The brother may have stopped in Louisana. Any help on any of the above names would be greatly appreciated. I visited the courthouse in Hayneville (only had a short time) and was unable to find any records of the Leonards or any record of the Orphan's Court records.
