GOODE--I am having a problem sorting out all the Robert GOODEs in the Jefferson County area of AL. According to Marilyn Davis Barefield in her _History of Mountain Brook, AL and Incidentally Shades Valley_, one of the Roberts, a descendant of Captain John GOODE, was one to the earliest settlers in Jefferson County and also a veteran of the Revolutionary War. His grandson, Robert (son of Edward), married Martha Drucilla WATKINS, grandaughter of Daniel WATKINS, Jr. My problem is that my Robert GOODE married Nancy WATKINS (daughter of Daniel WATKINS, Jr.) and served in the Civil War, making him older than one Robert and younger than the other--- So how is he related to this other line? Did the first Robert have another son named after himself? I would appreciate ANY GOODE info relating to this line! <giggle> I tickle myself! Angela Markwalter, bearden1@gte.net (that's a # one)
