NEAL--Mamie Irene NEAL, dau. of Tom/William NEAL and Fannie HARRIS. Mamie was b. 3 July 1889 in Gattman, MS. Moved to Alabama before 1914 and died in B'ham 4 Dec 1971. Married Robert J. WEBSTER about 1914. They had a dau. Edith I. WEBSTER (1915-1988). Edith has a granddaughter Michelle GORDON last known address was B'ham. Mamie's brother, William C. NEAL md. Anna TAYLOR after 1900. It is believed that Tom/William NEAL md. a second time to (Ella) and children of this union were Mitchell NEAL and Mollie NEAL. I am researching the surname NELSON in Alabama. I think this family may have been around Birmingham in 1886 but am not sure. I do not know the fathers first name but the mothers name may be Nancy Ellen (info taken off of daughters death cert. so may not be accurate). Children that I am sure of are Rhoda or Rhode (f) b. 1873?, Alma (also pron. Almer) (f) b. 1878, Melissa Caroline (f) b. 1884-86 and the children I am not sure of but believe these people had were Dink (f), George (m) and Virgil (m). He was born before the Civil War and was said to have fought in the war. He married Cindalella STEVENS. NELSON, Thomas was my g-grandfather, b. about 1804 in SC. About 1838, he married Nancy PENIX, who was b. 1817 in AL. Their children known to be born in AL are: Wiley G. NELSON, b. abt 1840; Martha A. NELSON b. abt 1842; Andrew Jackson NELSON, b. 21 Nov 1843, and John Calhoun NELSON, b.11 Nov 1846 in Centre, Cherokee County. The family is listed in 1850 Benton County census. It is known that the family came from AL to Craighead County, AR in 1859, and they are traced from there. My problem: after several years of searching (including Gandrud's work), I cannot find a trace of either the NELSON or PENIX families before the 1850 AL census. I have no clue as to Thomas NELSON parents or siblings. Sometimes I feel that I am the only person in the world looking for this line! Is there any help out there? Thanks ... Dell L. NIX, George Pierce. Raised in or near Clayton. Family operated a farm or plantation. He was trained as a pharmacist, but moved to Canon City, CO in the late 1800s for health reasons. Married my g.g. grandmother, Exhilda LaPlant. Four children: Corinth "Bud" and Corinne (twins); Nettie Lucille (my grandmother); George Nathan. George P. Nix died at the Mayo Clinic of kidney failure in 1915. I have several pictures and a post card, but don't know much about this family other than stories from my grandmother. See census information following query.  My interest: Fam Bible says my g-g/f Eugene L. NUNNELEE b. 21 Nov 1847 Savannah, Ga and was son of Walter & Annie NUNNELEE. Also had brother James & sisters Annie & Cornelia NUNNELEE. G-g/f Eugene enl in CSA 1862 at Auburn, Macon Co, Alabama. I just feel these are his kin especially since these are the only Cornelia NUNNELEE's I have ever found & 1 is connected to a James the right age as to be g-g/f brother & 1 of the Cornelia's is right age to be g-g/f sister. My g-g/f wemt to Tx by 1867 where he died 1909. I have all of his descendants but I know nothing about his parents or siblings except what I have stated abobe from Fam Bible Another thing, our surname is misspelled all the time - even on g-g/m death certificate!
