I am searching for infomation on John Park and wife Sarah Gilder. The 1840 and 1850 census puts them in Chambers County. John died sometime in 1853. I would like to know where he was buried. The 1860 census puts the family in the Oak Bowery district. I assume they were in this area in 1850. Sarah and family moved to Scott County, MS in 1868. Oral tradition states that John's father was also John Park and his mother was Ann Harper. The 1850 census indicates John II was born in SC in 1804 or 1805. I do not know where. John II had a brother, Andrew. Was this the Andrew Park living in Greenville, GA about the same time? Any information should be appreciated. James W. I know that ISHAM NEWTON PARKER was the father of MARYLAND BELLE PARKER who was my great grandmother. He married ELINOR HUNTON, probably in Kentucky, and took her to Alabama. I have court records signed by both in Tuscaloosa in 1857. I believe that he died about 1863 and Elinor brought their children back to Kentucky to live. One was Harriet and another Willis and of course, Belle. I believe that I can find the other children's names. I have no information other than this and do not know where he might be buried or his birth date. Family history has him dying about the age of 38, so he was probably born about 1825. Someone named Joel Parker was a witness on a will in Kentucky after the death of Belle Parker in 1893 and his home address was in Alabama.I am interested in any history on the Parker family in Tuscaloosa County. Thank you. Judy Schwank wmschwank@tcsx.net

Andrew Jackson was undoubtedly raised by grandmother Elizabeth BAILEY in Troup Co. GA since he is always found living with her on census reports or she is near him. Andrew's father could be Jackson POAGE who married an Elizabeth BAILEY on September 2, 1841, but as yet have no proof. In 1850 Troup Co. GA Census Jackson POGUE - age 2 b. GA wasin household of Jacob BAILEY, carpenter, age 23 b. GA, wife Sarah A.(SMITH)age 21 b. GA, Francis age 9 months b. GA, Mary A. BAILEY age 24 b. (Francis) Bailey age 11, E. age 8, M. A. age 6, S. D. L. age 3, and L. A. age 1. All female children. J. A. POGUE, age 12, was listed with Elizabeth BAILEY and two daughters, Mary and Delila in the 1860 Troup Co. GA Census. In 1870 Elizabeth and two daughters, Mary and Delila were found in the 1870 Talladega Co. AL Census living next door to Andrew Jackson, age 21, wife Sarah and son Walter. Andrew Jackson, age 31, and Sarah Ann had a Mary Bailey, listed as aunt and age 50, living with them on the 1880 Talladega Co. AL census. Andrew Jackson POGUE joined Co A of the 37th Troop Co GA Militia in October, 1864 during the Civil War. Howard POGUE (Andrew Jackson's grandson) of GA said he remembers his father, William R., saying that Andrew Jackson's parents lived in Chipley, GA (now Pine MT.) in Harris Co. GA. Can find no proof of this, and parents seem to have just disappeared. Howard also says that when the Confederate troops came marching by Andrew Jackson's home, he fell in with them and went with them. He was said to have left home at 16 or 17 years old and never returned to GA. They marched to LaGrange and then turned toward Talladega, where they fought their last battle. He was discharged in April 1865. Family members also say that Andrew Jackson had a brother who lived in Dadesville, AL. but no proof. Can someone out there please find a connection to this family and help me get through this brick wall I have hit? I would appreciate any help you can give me.
