PARKER--There appears to be another migratory effort made from Chambers Co. and other Alabama counties to East Texas, specifically Cass Co between 1887-1897. I am very interested in what happened in Chambers County or in Alabama that made so many families pull up well established roots. Both sides of my maternal grandmother's family find their way to Cass County during this time from different areas of Alabama. She was NORA WILLIE MAE PARKER . Her maternal grandparents were JOEL C. HARRIS AND PAULENA ELIZABETH MOORE. Her paternal grandparents, ELISHA PARKER and T. HENRIETTA SEARCY, of Conecuh, Butler, Covington, Counties find their way with other relatives to Cass County around in mid 1890's. Elisha Parker's father, NOAH PARKER as a circuit Baptist Minister in the counties listed above. At least one of Elisha Parker's brothers and Henrietta's brother Andrew Searcy came to Cass Co TX. Need any information on this migratory pattern. I believe East Texas lumber companies cleared pine forest for the advancing railroads and then advertised in Alabama newspapers with great incentives for purchasing farm land. Each of these families were well established farmers in their communities. "Debra Buster" <dlbusteriii@worldnet.att.net>

He and Mary Ann RUSSELL had the following children: William, Benjamin Franklin Jr, V Milton, Mary Gale, Charlotte Amelia (Lottie), Elizabeth (Bettie), Selah & Inez (twins), Sallie and Nora T (my gg-grandmother). B F, as he was known, enlisted in Lovejoy, GA in the 3rd MS infantry Company I Confederate army on Sept 1, 1864. He was said to have had a brother in Phildelphia, MS. I do not know the ancestors of BF. I do find him on the 1855 Pickens Co, AL state census near a James PERRY and an R J Perry. My family lore said that he was a banker, but all of the MS census' list him as a Planter.
