Found so far only on the 1910 Talladega Co, census and the 1900 Calhoun Co census. His mother was Adeline (unknown) TANNER b 1834, d 1915 and is buried in Alpine AL. (her father was born in SC). Father of John Thomas was probably Johnson TANNER and was born in GA or AL according to whichever census you believe. John Thomas may have been the brother of Ben, William, Sam and Nadie (also called Gladys). John was married in 1897 to: JoAnna JOHNSON, b Oct 7, 1872 in Alabama d Mar 21, 1939 in Alabama; buried with her husband. TAYLOR, BISHOP, NELSON, FULFORD, FULCHER, STYRON, WILLIS, HILL--The BISHOPs, NELSONs, FULFORDs, FULCHERs, TAYLORs, and STYRONs (and more) are amongst many of the families who migrated from Carteret County, North Carolina to Marengo, Alabama in the 1830's. I am currently working on a project about the Taylor Family and their genealogy (non-profit project) and am looking for material about the trip these families made to Alabama together to seek new homes in the 'wilderness'. My understanding was that the Taylors came back to NC (Carteret) once they looked around and decided not to stay in AL. THOMPSON, ASHER, LAXTON--I have three gg grandfathers, Harmon THOMPSON, Thomas LAXTON, and Thomas ASHER who all served in the War of 1812 from Anderson Co. TN. From their applications for pension, they state their company was in the Mobile area about 2 months to guard the coast from the British. One of the gg grandfather's obit state he served with Andrew Jackson. Is there someone out there that can lead me to any published data on activities in Monroe Co. during this time period. THORNAL/THORNELL--Looking for information on John Henry THORNAL, who was my g-grandfather's uncle. The only Alabama info I have on him is from a reference to him an Anderson County, Texas historical society's article.
