David Hedges Roll, Sr. served in the Civilian Conservation Corps from November 10, 1933, to September 30, 1934. He took these photographs, and made this album recording his experiences in the CCC. Mr. Roll was proud of his service in the Corps, and carefully preserved this album until his death in 1992.

To Whom It May Concern:

David Roll has worked as a carpenter, painter, and all-around mechanic at this camp for the past five months. During this time I have found him capable and conscientious. He always obeyed orders cheerfully and without question.

He left this camp voluntarily at the expiration of his enrollment.

Certificate of Discharge from Civilian Conservation Corps

To All Whom It May Concern:

This is to certify that David H. Roll, CCC2-73788, a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps, who was enrolled November 10, 1933, at Camp Dix, N. J., is hereby discharged therefrom, by reason of Expiration of Enrollment. Said David H. Roll, CCC2-73788 was born in Newark, in the State of New Jersey. When enrolled he was Twenty one years of age and by occupation a None. He had Blue eyes, Brown Hair, Fair complexion, and was Five feet 10-1/2 inches in height. His color was white. Given under my hand at Hackettstown, N. J., this thirtieth day of September, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-four.
