The Spiringbuurt At the time of her second marriage to Jacques Kinnekom in 1631, Anneken Pieters and her two orphaned sons, Jacob and Pieter Adriaensen, lived in the Spiringbuurt, a neighborhood in the old section of Alkmaar, North Holland, the Netherlands. The word buurt in Dutch means neighborhood rather than street. The Spiringbuurt is in the oldest section of the city, near the cheese weighing house, the Groote Kirk, and the Geestpoort. I still believe that the provenance of the Van Woogelum family is in the Wognumsebuurt near Alkmaar and perhaps Wognum near Hoorn. |
