60He was one of a family of seven children whose parents were Benjamin and Sarah Elliott. One of the family died in early childhood, the six who became adults lived to the remarkable average age of eighty-three years or a total of 498 years.
The home established by Mr. and Mrs. Elliott was one of substantial comfort unmarred by contention or unkindness. Timothy was perhaps the last in his neighborhood who was an active participant in the early pioneer life of Hillsdale Co., helping clear the forest and gathering crops of grain with a cradle and lived to see the wonderful advancement which characterizes the present day. He was honorable and upright in his dealings and his word could always be relied on. While not a church member, he was a birth right Quaker and no doubt many of his thoughts about life and how it should be lived was the result of his early education and training in that faith.
So ends the long life of Timothy Elliott, the faithful husband, the kind father, and the upright citizen soon only to be remembered by what he has done, a man who always had a pleasant smile and a friendly handshake. He has lived to see eight generations of the Elliott family.
