Nancy Chewning will registered Sept 1844

 

In the name of God, Amen. I, Nancy Chewning, of the State of Tennessee and County of Madison being of sound and disposing mind and memory and wishing to settle all my worldly affairs to my satisfaction do make and publish this as my last will and testament hear by revoking and making void all other wills by me at any time made.

 

Item 1st  I lend unto my Niece Mildred Woolfolk during her natural life one Negro man named Walker, one Negro girl named Mary and what other property I may have at my death (Should Mildred live longest).

 

Item 2nd  I give after the death of myself and Mildred Woolfolk above named, the Negro man Walker and all my other property  (except  the girl Mary lent as aforesaid)  to Mildred’s two sons, Vivion B. Woolfolk and John R. S. Woolfolk, to be equally divided between them two, his time or value as they may see proper.

 

Item 3rd  I lend after the death of Mildred Woolfolk, the girl Mary, which I now lend her, unto her daughter Amanda Malvina Hardgrave during her natural life and after her death unto the heirs of her body forever, Mary and her increase.

 

Item 4th I lend unto Cornelia Ann Carpenter during her natural life the Negro girl Emmaly and at her death to the heirs of her body forever, Emmaly and her increase.

 

In witness whereof I do ???? ??? ??? set my hand and seal this February 20, 1837.
