Friends were shocked to learn that Mr. Henry Enders Woolfolk was found
dead in his room in Danville [Boyle Co., Ky] Wednesday morning. Mr.
Woolfolk was the son of Captain Richard Woolfolk and Amanda Enders, of
Louisville, and was graduated from Centre College.
He was 74 years old and married Miss Amanda Boyle, daughter of Captain
Jere Boyle, in 1873, and since then has resided in Danville, being one
of its most prominent citizens.
He was owner and editor of the Danville Advocate for many years and sold
it to the present management. At one time he was president of the
Kentucky Press Association, and was elected to a life membership in the
organization.
When Danville built a water system in 1893, he was chairman of the
committee, and from that time, to his death he was manager of the plant.
He was Mayor of Danville for a long term of years.
His wife and daughter died a number of years ago, and he is survived by
one son, Mr. Boyle Woolfolk, playwright, of Chicago; a granddaughter,
Mrs. Jack Gregory, New York City, and a brother, Mr. Junius Woolfolk, of
Louisville.
The funeral was held yesterday afternoon at the home of Mrs. J. W.
Yerkes, with burial in the Danville cemetery.
