Thursday morning, 21st January, 1854.

My will and wish should I die without making another regular will- That my beloved wife Mahulda shall have what property I have including all her life time or widowhood at either of them periods the property to be equal divided between my children if my wife should marry then my wife to have a childs part of my estate – the money I may have on hand or due me after paying my debts to be reserved to hand over to my children as they leave her to make their equal as I intend to give them eight hundred dollars each as they leave me by referring to next page you may see hoo (sic) has been paid and how much—I wish my wife to carry out the $800.00 my object to each a horse worth fifty dollar, cow, bed & furniture – if she can , my wife to be at liberty to sell my slave woman Silva at any time she wishes or if the has any stock moor (sic) than she needs to sell it and reserve the money to pay of the children when they leave her or come of age- if any of my slaves are disobedient to my wife for her to be at liberty to hire them out when she pleases my wife may five off to the children as she may think proper so as to keep them equal but be sure to keep enough to support on – my wife Mahulda to have my land, farm & slaves & property as left for raising any children without charge .  I have claims and interests other wheres (sic) may be disposed of in the best way they can with any garentee (sic) on the part of my estate.  My wife to have all their property without giving the court my bond and security if there should be an unnecessary squandering of the estate then and in that case I wish the court to take charge of said estate.  I wish the above not to departed from.

In sound mind at hence given under my hand and seal this day & date above written.
