Will of Jane M. Goodrich

Proven at November Term. 1859

October 4, 1859.

 

In the name of God, Amen,

 

Know all men by these presents, that I, Jane M. Goodrich, being sound in mind though feeble in health, make this as my last will and testament.

 

First. – After my decease, my will and desire is, that my son Edwin H. Goodrich, shall have my entire interest in all the lands I now own, and that he shall take care of my daughters, Mary E. Stewart, and her children and Eugenia C. Goodrich, as long as they may wish to live with him, - also, that he shall have one bed and furniture.

 

Second – My will and desire is that my daughter Margaret L. Linthicum shall have the Negro girl named Manda left to her and her bodily heirs.

 

Third – My will and desire is that my sons, John C. Goodrich and Malcom H. Goodrich shall have and divide the Negro boy named Austin equally between themselves, also that by son Malcom shall have one bed and furniture.

 

Fourth – My will and desire is, that my daughter Mary E. Stewart shall have the Negro girl named Eliza, also one bed and furniture, —also that she and my daughter Eugenia C. Goodrich shall have my cupboard ware and cooking utensils.

 

Fifth – My will and desire is, that Eugenia C. Goodrich shall have the Negro woman named Bitha, also one bed and furniture, also the yellow horse called Prince, also the clock and 6 chairs.

 

Sixth – My will and desire is, that my daughter Harriet W. Jackson, shall have one bed and furniture.

 

Seventh 0—My will and desire is that my daughter Panthia J. Harris, shall have one bed and furniture.

 

Eighth – My will and desire is that the Negro boys, Anthony, Dick and Franklin, together with my interest in the crop and the part of my household and kitchen furniture and stock and farming utensils not otherwise disposed of shall be sold, and all my just debts be paid out of the proceeds, after which if there shall be any thing left, the same shall be equally divided between all of my children.

 

Ninth – My will and desire is that John C. Goodrich and Malcom H. Goodrich shall be and are hereby left as Executors to this my last will and testament.

 

Signed in the presence of two witnesses, day and date above mentioned.
