This Indenture made the twenty seventh day of October the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and eighty five between Joseph Woolfolk of Orange County of the one part and William Brockman of the same county and Samuel Brockman and Rebecca his wife during their life of the other part.  Witnesseth that the said Joseph Woolfolk for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and sixty one pounds current money of Virginia to him in hand paid And before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt thereof of the said Joseph Woolfolk do hereby acknowledge have given granted bargained & sold and confirmed And by these presents do fully clearly and absolutely give grant bargain sell confirm unto the said William Brockman his heirs and assigns and to Samuel Brockman and Rebecca his wife during their life all that tract or parcel of land containing 161 acres more or less situate lying and being in Orange county on the east side of the south fork of Pamuneky River and bounded as followeth to wit: Beginning at a large Spanish Oak and Hickory on the bank of the River corner to John Henderson thence with his line with 35 degrees east 116 poles to a white oak corner to the said Henderson thence north 48 degrees west 246 poles to a small dogwood on the east side of bear branch another corner to the said Henderson thence down the said branch to three white oaks at the mouth of said branch on Cooks Mill 10 degrees down the said Mill Run to a Spanish oak and Wilow Cherry at the mouth of the said Run on the east side of the said Pamunkey River and partly down the same along the water course to the beginning.  And all and singular the houses buildings gardens orchards meadows pastures ways and [  ] water water courses woods, timbers profits commodities and appurances whatsoever to the same belonging or in any way appertaining and the ……… the right title interest property claim and demand whatsoever of the said Joseph Woolfolk of in or to the premises with the appurtenances and every part and parcel thereof to have and to hold the said 161 acres of land With there and every of there appurtenances thereto the said William Brockman his heirs and assigns forever to the sole only and proper use thereof of the said William Brockman his heirs and assigns for ever and the said Joseph Woolfolk for himself and his heirs shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents the said land and premises with the appurtenances unto the said William Brockman his heirs and assigns against them the said Joseph Woolfolk his heirs assigns and all other persons whatsoever.  In witness thereof the said Joseph Woolfolk have hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year first above written.

Received of the within named William Brockman 161 pounds current money being the consideration within mentioned the day and year within written.

At a court held for Orange County on Thursday 27th day of October 1785 this Indenture with a receipt thereon endorsed from Joseph Woolfolk to William Brockman, Samuel Brockman & Rebecca his wife was acknowledged by the said Woolfolk and ordered to be Recorded.
