This
Indenture made & entered into this tenth day of July on thousand eight
hundred & thirteen between Joseph Woolfolk of the county of Hanover of the one
part and Bentley Brown of the same county of the other part witnesseth
that for & in consideration of the sum of four hundred & thirty nine
pounds twelve shillings current money of Virginia to him in part paid at
& before the sealing & delivery of these presents the receipt whereof
the said Joseph Woolfolk
doth hereby acknowledge the said Brown hereof & therefrom doth hereby
forever acquit, exonerate & discharge, sell and confirm unto the said
Bentley Brown his heirs and assigns all that tract or parcel of land situate
lying & being in the county of Louisa & Hanover on little Rocky Creek
containing three hundred and fourteen acres according to the
following courses. Beginning at Dickinsons corner a chestnut oak on the east
side of the road. Viz. N27 degrees E44 poles along a slash branch 157 poles S45
degrees W68 poles, S78 degrees W96 poles along the north river road 121 poles
along little Rocky Creek 53 poles S31 degrees E372 poles S15 degrees 107 poles
S82 degrees E19 poles S 20 degrees W23 poles S?36 degrees E69 poles N57 degrees
E58 poles N36 degrees W30 poles N85 degrees E18 poles S80 degrees E39 poles N12
degrees E48 poles N7 degrees E18 poles N70 degrees E4 poles S84 degrees E15
poles S78 degrees E84 poles to the beginning. And bounded by the lands of Wingfield
Cosby, David Tulloh, James Hall & the sd Bentley Brown & others it
being the land which Austin Woolfolk
purchased of James Dillard together with all & singular the appurtenances
thereto belonging or in any wise appertaining, right title claim or demand of
him the said Joseph Woolfolk
of in or to the same ..to have and hold the said three hundred & fourteen
acres of land unto the said Bentley Brown his heirs assigns forever…that the
said Bentley Brown his heirs, assigns shall quietly & peaceably enjoy the
said land hereby granted. The said Joseph Woolfolk has hereunto set his hand & affixed
his seal the day & year first above mentioned.
