Clerk’s Margin Note: Woolfolk & wife to Woolfolk. Original delivered to Thomas Woolfolk May 12, 1819
This deed indented made and entered into the 9th day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and six by and between Joseph Woolfolk and Elizabeth his wife of the county of Orange of the one part and Thomas Woolfolk Jr of the county aforesaid of the other part – the consideration of twelve hundred and sixty pounds to them in hand paid by the said Thos. Woolfolk Jr the receipt whereof the said Joseph Woolfolk and Elizabeth his wife do hereby acknowledge and confess have given granted bargained enfeoffed and sold to the said Thos Woolfolk Jr a certain tract or parcel of land containing by estimation three hundred and forty acres situate laying and being in the said county of Orange on the north fork of the South anna river beginning at a birch a little above the mouth of a branch on the north side of the said river corner to Thos Woolfolk Jr and being north fourteen and a half degrees west three hundred and ten poles to a pine in Graves line corner to said Thomas Woolfolk Jr therence north thirty three and a half degrees east one hundred and sixteen poles to an oak an hickory on the side of very steep hill in said Graves line corner to Thomas Oakes thence south forty nine degrees east one hundred and thiry four poles to two red oaks on the east side of the Bar? Branch corner to Thomas Oaks, John Henderson and William Brockman thence with the banch to it sconfluence with a creek thence down the meanders of the creek to it’s junction with the north fork of the southanna river thence with the river to the birch at the beginning, which said tract or parcel of land with the appurtenances there unto appertaining the said Joseph Woolfolk and Elizabeth his wife for themselves and their heirs will by these presents to warrant and defend to the said Thomas Woolfolk Jr and his heirs forever clear from the ?let hinderance or molestation of any person or persons whomever. In testimony where of the said Joseph Woolfolk and Elizabeth his wife hereunto set there hands affixed their seals the day and year above written.

The commonwealth of Virginia to Thomas Ellis and Dabney Minor gentleman greeting. Whereas Joseph Woolfolk & Elizabeth his wife by their certain Indenture of bargain and sale bearing date the ninth day of October 1806 have sold and convey unto Thomas Woolfolk Jr the fee simple estate of and in three hunded and forty acres of land lying and being in the county of Orange and whereas the said Elizabeth cannot conviently travel to our county court of Orange to make her acknowledgement of the said conveyance Therefore we do give unto you or any two or more of you power to receive the asknowledgment in which she the said Elizabeth shall be willing to make before your of the conveyance of aforesaid contained in the said Indenture which is hereunto annexed and --- therefore command you (hard to read but she is to be examined apart from her husband Joseph Woolfolk & to obtain her acknowledgment of the above deed. 13 Oct 1806 in the 31st year of the Commonwealth.
The release of dower was dated 14th day of October 1806. Thos. Ellis & Dab’y Minor.. Recorded 7 day of October 1806.
