Mr. J. S. Fielder
Dear Sir,
I rec’d your letter stating
that Mrs. Hare had brought up and acct for meal as an offset against her note
that we let you have which was admitted by Esq. Henry, which I suppose was all
right, but I left an acct against her with J.W. Glass or John Smith, I do not recollect
which though I think as well as my memory serves me I left it with Glass for
practice done since that note was given & I feel very sure that I credited
that acct with the meal. & I think the credit I placed on the acct was for
more than $3 you will do me the favour to ascertain who has that acct &
have the matter corrected. As she has
been credited on the note the credit on the acct should be erased & the amt
for the credit paid over to you. It is
possible I let Brooks have it as I do not now remember who I let have it as I
was trying to square up with all. I don’t
want you to be uneasy about the amt as you shall be paid if the error is not
corrected. But you will do me a favour
to attend to it for me. This leaves all
well but my wife who has been suffering with the tooth ache. Please write me
soon how the matter is arranged & very respectfully yours.
