The Worden Family Association has a new web site .  It is just in it's infancy stage at present but has exciting plans.  There will be an archive section which will only be available to their members.  In it will be all the past issues of Wordens Past as well as the work of other Worden genealogists. Future plans also include the data base and files of Patricia C Worden. Their address is http://wordenfamilyassoc.org/home

The goal of this web site is to find, sort, share and preserve the best information possible concerning the thousands of descendants of Peter Worden I, who died on Cape Cod in early 1638/9 (see article "Colonial Calendar"). Along the way we will give some details and stories that make our ancestors more interesting. We will expose and clarify previously published errors in Worden genealogy.

Oliver Norton Worden published the first Worden genealogy in1868. At that time he estimated that the whole posterity of Peter Worden 1st might comprise fifty thousand names. I quote from his book Some Records of Persons by the Name of Worden.

"Even ‘black and white’ memorials have errors—are not always complete—some times can not be understood. The index is often missing, and partakes of human infirmity. Incompetency or carelessness, on the part of some one, has led to hopeless confusion. During civil revolutions, records were unkept, destroyed, or deposited elsewhere then their proper, natural place. Fire, mould, rats &c. have defaced where they did not devour……’Figures won’t lie’ but it has some times been hard work to make them tell the truth. Through errors, some figures which reached me missed the facts by from one to a hundred years."  (see O. N. Worden)

We are just beginning to get all the information we have onto the site.  Come back and visit us again or better yet send something to display on the site and to advance Worden genealogy.
