Norris is probably included in the household of Mrs. John Norris, in the 1840 Census of Ashe County, North Carolina.3 Gilbert Norris, age 14 was living in the household of John Norris, in the 1850 Census of Overton County, Tennessee.4

I think Malinda is Gilbert's first wife.6

Since this Mary remained in Overton Co with her family, I think she is more likely to be the Mary Yelton who married James Copeland.3,1 Mrs. Mary Copeland, age 17 was living in the household of James Copeland, age 22, in the 1870 Census of Overton County, Tennessee.4
