     Philip Hendricks Yelton was born on 8 October 1835 in Grant's Lick, Kentucky.^1,2,3 He was living in the household of Jessee Yelton, age 45, in the 1850 Census of Campbell County, Kentucky.⁴ Between 28 January 1859 and 28 April 1859 Philip served as a private in the Texas Mounted Rangers, under the command of James Bourland. He enlisted at Gainesville, Texas.⁵ Between 20 May 1860 and 25 October 1860 Philip served as a second lieutenant in the Texas Mounted Rangers, under the command of G. Fitshugh.⁵ On 4 July 1862 Philip H. Yelton served as a private in Company E of Morgan's Regiment of Texas Cavalry. He appears on a muster roll for September 1 to December 1, 1862 of Capt. Alfred Johnson's Spy Co, Texas Cavalry, which subsequently became Company E, Morgan's Regiment. He enlisted July 4, 1862 at West Point, Arkansas. His age is given as 28. He further appears on a muster roll for September 1, 1862 through May 1, 1863. He also appears on a roster of Confederate troops captured at Ft. Hindman, Arkansas on January 11, 1863. He also appears on a muster roll of detachments for November and December, 1863 stationed at Tunnel Hill, GA. On a roll dated December 31, 1863, he is stated to have been sent across the Tennessee River by order of General Claburne in August on a scout and not yet returned.⁶

     Lillie Pearl Yelton was born on 14 March 1880 in Missouri.^3,4,1 She, was listed as a daughter of P. H. Yelton, age 45, in the 1880 Census of Mount Pleasant, Cass County, Missouri.³ Pearl Yelton, age 20 was listed as a daughter of Phillip Yelton, age 64 in the 1900 Census of Anderson County, Kansas.⁴ Lillie Pearl Yelton died on 8 April 1903.¹
