Yelton, age 43 in the 1920 Census of Tillman County, Oklahoma.¹ Her eyes were injured in a schoolyard accident when she was 11, and she was completely blind from the age of 31. In 1947, she began operating a concession stand in the Comanche County courthouse. She was also active in the Central Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School. In 1961, she was seriously injured when she was struck by a car while crossing a street on her way to work. She had no medical insurance, and several local civic groups raised money on her behalf.³ At the time of her death, Edra Minerva Yelton resided at in Wewoka, Seminole County, Oklahoma.² She died on 14 July 1990.²
