     Byron Welker was born circa 1852 in Illinois.¹

Byron Welker married Mary Jane (?) circa 1881.² Byron Welker, age 57 was listed as the head of a household in the 1910 Census of Cumberland County, Illinois. The household also included his wife, Mary J. Welker, age 52, his daughter, Maud Yelton, age 25 and Elsie L. Yelton, age 20, his son-in-law, Samuel E. Yelton, age 26, his grandson, Johnie B. Yelton, age 6 and Jessie Robert Yelton, age 4, his granddaughter, Shirley Yelton, age 8, Arvilla Yelton, age 7 and Della M. Yelton, age 5 months. Although Samuel and Elsie Love Yelton are not next to each other, the census taker drew a line between them to indicate the relationship. Maud Yelton has borne four children, all of whom are living. Elsie Love Yelton has borne one child, who is living. Mary Jane Welker has borne three children, two of whom are living.³ Byron Welker, age 67 was listed as the head of a household in the 1920 Census of Hazel Dell, Cumberland County, Illinois. The family included his wife, Mary J. Welker, age 62, his daughters, Maud Welker, age 35 and Elsie L. Welker, age 32, his grandson, John Yelton, age 14, Jesse Yelton, age 13 and Franklin R. Yelton, age 6, his granddaughter, Shirley Yelton, age 17, Arvilla Yelton, age 16, Della M. Yelton, age 9 and Latreva G. Yelton, age 2. Both Maud and Love are shown with the surname Welker, although in both cases it should have said Yelton. Their children, however, are all listed as Yeltons.⁴ Byron Welker, age 77 was listed as the head of a household in the 1930 Census of Cumberland County, Illinois. The household also included his wife, Jane Welker, age 72, his daughter, Love Yelton, age 42, his grandson, Jess Yelton, age 23, his granddaughter, Latreva Yelton, age 12 and Arvilla Yelton, age 26. The household also includes Leon Yelton, age 2 years and 10 months and identified as Byron Welker's grandson, but there's no way to tell from the census whether he is Maud's child or Love's.²

     Mary Jane (?) was born circa 1857 in Illinois.¹

Mary Jane (?) married Byron Welker circa 1881.² Mary J. Welker, age 52 was listed as the wife of Byron Welker, age 57 in the 1910 Census of Cumberland County, Illinois.³ Mary J. Welker, age 62 was listed as the wife of Byron Welker, age 67 in the 1920 Census of Hazel Dell, Cumberland County, Illinois.⁴ Jane Welker, age 72 was listed as the wife of Byron Welker, age 77 in the 1930 Census of Cumberland County, Illinois.²

     Latreva G. Yelton was born on 22 November 1917 in Illinois.^1,3 She was the daughter of Elsie Love Welker.^1,2 Latreva G. Yelton, age 2 was listed as the granddaughter of Byron Welker, age 67 in the 1920 Census of Hazel Dell, Cumberland County, Illinois.¹ Latreva Yelton, age 12 was listed as a granddaughter of Byron Welker, age 77 in the 1930 Census of Cumberland County, Illinois.⁴ Latreva G. Yelton died on 10 November 2004.³

     Edmund Hinson was born before 1683.³ He was the son of Joseph Hinson and Elizabeth Hoyle.^1,2 At his father's death in 1698, Edmund inherited the 391 acres which he later sold to Robert Carter. On 22 March 1704 Edmund sold 391 acres of land on the north side of Potomac Run to Robert Carter in Stafford County, Virginia. The deed states that this land had been granted to Joseph Hinson, father of Edmund, in a deed dated 16 Mar 1694/5 and that Edmund had inherited the land under his father's will. The deed was recorded 13 June 1705. Since there is no reference to a separate examination, Edmund could not have been married at this time.⁴

Edmund Hinson married Elizabeth (?) before 1720. In 1724, he appears on a list of tobacco tenders in Overwharton Parish, with an allotment of 15,377 plants.⁵ On 2 July 1729 Edmund received 254 acres on Accokeek Run, Stafford County, Virginia. This land was part of a patent of 1500 acres dated 25 Oct 1669 granted to Edward Rogers and Charles Hoyle. 702 acres of the orginal patent was, by this survey, divided equally among Edmund Hinson, Lewis Elzey, and John Waugh. Charles Hoyle was the grandfather of Edmund Hinson.⁶ Edmund is listed on a 1742 quit rent roll for Stafford County, as owning 150 acres for which he was assessed 3 shillings.⁷ He died on 13 November 1742 in Stafford County, Virginia.⁸

     Elizabeth (?) was born circa 1700.

Elizabeth (?) married Edmund Hinson, son of Joseph Hinson and Elizabeth Hoyle, before 1720. On 17 February 1749 Elizabeth is listed in the ledger for Accokeek Furnace, Stafford County, Virginia. She was charged .2.6 (2 shillings, 6 pence) for the repair of a plow. On 1 January 1749/50 Elizabeth appears in the Accokeek Furnace ledger on a list of balances due carried forward to the new year.¹ In June 1755 Elizabeth appears on a list of abatements in the Accokeek Furnace ledger in the amount of 2 shillings, 6 pence.² She died between 16 November 1761 and 7 December 1761 Stafford County, Virginia.³

     Joseph Hinson was born circa 1720 Joseph is listed first among Edmond's children in the will of their uncle, Charles Hinson. If the list is in order of age, then he was born before Isabel.² He was the son of Edmund Hinson and Elizabeth (?).¹ On 12 November 1751 Joseph sold to Andrew Ross land inherited from Charles Hinson in Stafford County, Virginia. Charles Hinson's will directed that his property be sold and the money divided equally among his brother Edmond's five children. Yet this deed implies that Joseph inherited the land and then sold it. According to Jerrilyn Eby, this property is now known as "Carmora" and will be the site of the new regional airport.^3,4

     Mary Hinson was born circa 1725 in Stafford County, Virginia.² She was the daughter of Edmund Hinson and Elizabeth (?).¹

Mary Hinson married Henry Threlkeld on 3 November 1748 in Stafford County, Virginia.³ Mary Hinson died after 1761.

     Lazarus Hinson was born circa 1727 in Stafford County, Virginia.² He was the son of Edmund Hinson and Elizabeth (?).¹

Lazarus Hinson married Sarah Latham circa 1751. Lazarus Hinson died before 22 May 1762 Stafford County, Virginia.³

     Ann Hinson was born circa 1728 in Stafford County, Virginia. She was the daughter of Edmund Hinson and Elizabeth (?).¹

Ann Hinson married George Bell on 15 April 1745.² Ann Hinson died after 1761.
