Nancy Yelton married Jonathan Cash circa 1805.^1,4 Nancy Cash is probably included in the 1810 Census of Iredell County, North Carolina in the household of her husband, Jonathan Cash.⁵ Nancy Cash is probably included in the 1830 Census of Shelby County, Indiana in the household of her husband, Jonathan Cash.⁶ Nancy Cash is probably included in the 1840 Census of Posey County, Indiana in the household of her husband, Jonathan Cash.⁷ Nancy Yelton died between 1840 and 1850 in Indiana.^1,8

The older woman is unidentified.⁶ I haven't found James in the 1820 Census. He was enumerated as the head of a household in the 1830 Census of Pendleton County, Kentucky. The household consisted of 1 male 40-50, 1 female 50-60, 1 female 15-20, and 1 male 10-15. It is likely that these individuals were, in addition to James, his wife, Elizabeth Yelton, his son, Robert J. Yelton, his daughter, Elizabeth Yelton.⁷ James Yelton died on 6 September 1838 in Pendleton County, Kentucky.⁵

The household consisted of 1 female 60-70, 1 female 20-30, 1 male 15-20, 1 male 10-15, 1 female 10-15, and 1 male under 5. It is likely that these individuals were, in addition to Elizabeth, Margaret Castator Yelton, Elizabeth's widowed daughter-in-law, and her two children, James and Mary Ann. The oldest and youngest males in the household are unidentified, although it's certainly possible that James and Margaret had a third child.⁶ She died in 1841.⁷

     James G. Yelton was born circa 1828 in Kentucky.^3,4 There is no definitive proof that James G. Yelton was the son of James and Margaret (Castator) Yelton. However, it is certain that James and Margaret had a son James who was a minor at his father's death in 1838. The 1830 Census indicates that the younger James was born between 1825 and 1830. Since his parents married late in 1827, he was probably born between 1828 and 1830. These dates are (roughly) consistent with the age of James G. Yelton as reported in the 1860, 1870, and 1880 Censuses, which variously indicate birth years of 1830, 1828, and 1827.^1,5 He is probably included in the household of James Yelton Jr., in the 1830 Census of Pendleton County, Kentucky.⁶ James G. Yelton is probably included in the household of Elizabeth Yelton in the 1840 Census of Pendleton County, Kentucky.⁷

James G. Yelton married Keziah Barlow on 20 March 1859 in Fulton County, Illinois.^8,9 James Yelton, age 30 was recorded as the head of a household in the 1860 Census of Story County, Iowa. Also living in the household was Kezier Yelton, age 28. James reported owning real estate worth $485 and personal property worth $290.¹⁰

James G. Yelton married Susan Jane Lennin, daughter of William Lennin and Lydia Castator, on 1 November 1864 in Campbell County, Kentucky.^11,12 J. G. Yelton, age 42 appeared as the head of a household in the 1870 Census of Story County, Iowa. Also living in the household were S. J. Yelton, age 31 and Wm. Yelton, age 4. J. reported owning real estate worth $400 and personal property worth $500.¹³ He was enumerated as the head of a household in the 1880 Census of Story County, Iowa. The family included his wife, Susan Jane Yelton, age 40, his son, William Yelton, age 14, his daughter, Roxana Yelton, age 7, his father-in-law, William Lenni, age 75. Although William Lenni [sic] is identified as James' father, he was actually James' father-in-law.⁴ James G. Yelton died on 3 November 1891 at his home in Milford Township, Story County, Iowa. He was survived by his wife, Susan Jane Lennin.¹⁴

     Mary Ann Yelton was born on 11 January 1831 in Pendleton County, Kentucky.^3,4 She is probably included in the household of Elizabeth Yelton in the 1840 Census of Pendleton County, Kentucky.⁵ Mary Yelton, age 19 was living in the household of Benj. C. Gosney, age 28, in the 1850 Census of Campbell County, Kentucky.⁶

Mary Ann Yelton married Nelson Dunn, son of Jacob Dunn, on 10 April 1851 in Campbell County, Kentucky.⁷ Mary Dunn, age 29 was living in the household of Nelson Dunn, in the 1860 Census of Campbell County, Kentucky.⁸ Mary M. Dunn, age 39 was living in the household of Nelson Dunn, age 62, in the 1870 Census of Campbell County, Kentucky.⁹ Mary (Yelton) Dunn died on 28 April 1896 Kentucky.⁷

     Elizabeth (?) was born circa 1794. According to the 1820 Census, she was born between 1794 and 1804. Since she must have married circa 1810, I think she was very near the early part of that range.¹

The household consisted of 1 female 16-26, 1 female under 10, and 2 males under 10. It is likely that these individuals were, in addition to Elizabeth, her sons, John Yelton and William Yelton III, her daughter, Cynthiana Yelton.¹

William Yelton III married Martha D. Shipp on 13 August 1850 in Howard County, Missouri.^6,7 In the 1850 Census for Howard County, Missouri, William is living in a household headed by Margaret H. Bellew, age 38 and born in Kentucky. The other residents of the household are children of various ages, some of which appear to be Margaret's.³ William L. Yelton, age 41 was recorded as the head of a household in the 1860 Census of Howard County, Missouri. Also living in the household were Martha Yelton, Mary E. Yelton, age 9, Zilpha Yelton, age 6 and an unnamed male infant Yelton, whose age is not stated. William reported owning real estate worth $700 and personal property worth $680.⁸ He appeared as the head of a household in the 1870 Census of Howard County, Missouri. It is likely that these individuals were, in addition to John, his wife, Delila Ann Lafferty, his son, Son1 Yelton.⁶ John Yelton, was listed as the head of a household in the 1850 Census of Posey County, Indiana. Also living in the household were Delila Ann Lafferty and Silus R. Yelton. John reported owning real estate worth $300. James Lafferty, age 55, appears as the head of household #556. He was born in Pennsylvania, but his wife, Eve, was born in North Carolina.²

John Yelton married Sarah A. (?) before 1860.⁷ John Yelton was recorded as the head of a household in the 1860 Census of Cumberland County, Illinois. Also living in the household were Sarah A. (?), Silus R. Yelton and Matilda W. Yelton. John reported owning real estate worth $500 and personal property worth $200. The census gives his wife's name as Sarah A and says she was born in Arkansas, but the age matches that of Delia in the 1850 Census.⁸

     Elizabeth Yelton was born circa 1793 in Amherst County, Virginia, Her father's initial application for a pension, made in 1820, refers to a 27 year old daughter still living at home.^2,3 She is probably included in the household of William Yelton, in the 1820 Census of Pendleton County, Kentucky.⁴

Yelton was born on 1 September 1854 in Butler, Pendleton County, Kentucky.^4,5,6 He was living in the household of Alexander Yelton, age 45, in the 1860 Census of Pendleton County, Kentucky.⁷ Jasper Yelton, age 18 was living in the household of Alex Yelton, age 54, in the 1870 Census of Pendleton County, Kentucky.⁸ Jasper Yelton, age 26, was listed as a son of Vashti Yelton, age 47, in the 1880 Census of Butler, Pendleton County, Kentucky.³

Dora has borne 5 children, 4 of whom are living.⁴ Jasper M. Yelton, age 56 was listed as the head of a household in the 1910 Census of Knoxville, Knox County, Tennessee. The household also included his wife, Dora Yelton, age 48, his sons, Everett Yelton, age 28 and Wood Yelton, age 21, his daughter, Beulah Yelton, age 16. Dora has borne five children, four of whom are living.⁹ Jasper survived the death of his wife, Dora Ann Caldwell, on 29 November 1911.⁵

Jasper N. Yelton married Emma Beech between 1912 and 1919.¹⁰ Jasper Yelton, age 65 was listed as the head of a household in the 1920 Census of Covington, Kenton County, Kentucky. The family included his wife, Emma Yelton, age 57, his daughter, Marian Yelton, age 9.¹⁰ Jasper N. Yelton died on 10 February 1922 in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio.^5,6 He was buried in the Butler Cemetery, Pendleton County, Kentucky, on 12 February 1922.⁵

     George W. Yelton was born on 11 February 1855 in Pendleton County, Kentucky.¹ He died on 28 October 1857 Kentucky of scarlet fever.²

     Mary E. Yelton was born on 1 May 1858 in Pendleton County, Kentucky.⁴ She was living in the household of Alexander Yelton, age 45, in the 1860 Census of Pendleton County, Kentucky.⁵ Mary Yelton, age 11 was living in the household of Alex Yelton, age 54, in the 1870 Census of Pendleton County, Kentucky.⁶ Mary Yelton, age 22, was listed as the daughter of Vashti Yelton, age 47, in the 1880 Census of Butler, Pendleton County, Kentucky.³

Mary E. Yelton married William W. Wakefield circa 1887.^7,8,9 Mary E. Wakefield, age 40 was listed as the wife of William Wakefield, age 49 in the 1900 Census of Pendleton County, Kentucky.⁹ In 1922 Mary E. Yelton lived in Demossville, Kentucky.⁹ She and William W. Wakefield had no children.¹ Mary (Yelton) Wakefield died on 2 February 1927 at her home, Grassy Creek, Pendleton County, Kentucky, at age 68. She was survived by her husband, William W. Wakefield.¹ Mary E. Yelton was buried at Grant Cemetery, Pendleton County, Kentucky, on 3 February 1927.¹

     Richard Johnston Thomas was born on 31 January 1850 Milford, Clermont County, Ohio.^1,2 He died in 1936.

     Emma Keturah Byrd was born on 26 November 1869 in Campbell County, Kentucky.^2,3,1 She was living in the household of John H. Byrd, age 44, in the 1870 Census of Campbell County, Kentucky.³ Katura Byrd, age 10, was listed as a daughter of Jno H. Byrd, Sr., age 54, in the 1880 Census of Campbell County, Kentucky.⁴

Emma Keturah Byrd married James Honey Gosney, son of Francis Marion Gosney and Sarah Margaret Yelton, on 8 October 1890 in Alexandria, Campbell County, Kentucky.⁵ Emma Keturah (Byrd) Gosney died on 16 December 1899 Kentucky.^6,2 She was buried in Oakland Cemetery, Campbell County, Kentucky.²
