Holmes, age 49 in the 1910 Census of Arkansas City, Cowley County, Kansas.¹ In 1917 Emil Broadus Holmes was an apprentice undertaker, employed by the Wichita Undertaking Company.² Emil registered for the World War I draft on 2 June 1917 in Wichita, Kansas. He claimed exemption from the draft, presumably because he was married, although he did not give a specific reason.² He died on 12 June 1980 in San Francisco, California.^4,5
