William Yelton married Mary Lockwood on 11 October 1821 in Pendleton County, Kentucky.7,3 William Yelton "of John" was enumerated as the head of a household in the 1830 Census of Pendleton County, Kentucky. The household consisted of 1 male 70-80, 1 male 30-40, 2 females 20-30, 2 females under 5, and 1 male under 5. It is likely that these individuals were, in addition to William, his wife, Mary Lockwood, his son, John Yelton, his daughters, Mary A. Yelton and Rebecca Jane Yelton. Samuel would have been 7 or 8 when this census was taken. Since the only male child in the household is under 5, I believe that's John. Samuel evidently died young, as I have found no further record of him. The elderly man is not William's father, who appears in his own household. Perhaps he was Mary's father? The other adult female could have been a sister.8
