This census states that Mary's father was born in Arkansas and her mother in Tennessee.³ In 1910 Frank Rodney Yelton was a paperhanger for the Selby Paint Shop.³ In 1918 Frank and Mary Yelton lived at 3908 Montana, El Paso, Texas.² Frank registered for the World War I draft on 12 September 1918 in El Paso, Texas. He identified Mary Elizabeth Yelton as his closest living relative.² In 1918 Frank Rodney Yelton was a paint contractor.²

F. R. Yelton, age 35 was listed as the head of a household in the 1920 Census of El Paso, El Paso County, Texas. The family included his wife, Mrs. F. R. Yelton, age 54, his daughter, Ruth Yelton, age 12. This census states that both of Mary's parents were born in Tennessee.⁴
